    July 22 – Coal Pot Cook-Off

    Date: 07/22/2017

Time: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Local Chefs offer their favorite coal pot dishes for a fresh taste of the tropics!  Coal pot cooking is something of a cultural institution in the islands. Coal pots are generally pretty small – usually about a foot in diameter. The modest size means they don’t hold a whole lot of coals. Thus, they don’t get super hot. In this way, they offer more of a slow-cook meal prep experience, enabling the deep, rich flavors and nutrients of your food to shine through. The earthy, smoked flavor from the coals also provide a nice added bonus. If you are interested in cooking in the coal pot cook-off, please contact St Thomas Historical Trust at 340-774-5541

Cruz Bay Summer Live Music Scene - 07/24/2017

    Date: 07/24/2017

Time: 12:00 pm to 12:00 am

    Category: St.John and Live Music

What To Do in Cruz Bay – July’s Live Music Scene There is plenty of live music going on most every night in Cruz Bay even in the off season. Most venues are a short stroll from one another, making it easy to visit more than one in the same evening. Many bars and restaurants tend to have a regularly scheduled performer on set days of the week. If you find your favorite, chances are you can catch them more than once while visiting. You will find them listed below by establishment. Some of the more music-heavy establishments like the Beach Bar and this season the Barefoot Cowboy, will bring in bands from away. This is a real treat for locals and these nights draw big crowds and make for fun parties! There are no cover charges. Our suggestion: start off by catching a regular performer during one of the many St.John happiest of happy hours. Move on to the next venue for a soulful blend of music paired with appetisers and dinner. Top it off with night caps and your dancing shoes. Caribbean Triple Crown Poker Run Series - 07/29/2017

    Date: 07/29/2017

THE BIGGEST NAUTICAL EVENT IN THE CARIBBEAN MAY 28 BVI         JUNE 2 USVI         July 29 SXM Fifteen years ago, the Leverick Bay Poker Run was born in the British Virgin Islands. This now-famous family-focused nautical event attracts hundreds of boaters from around the Caribbean. The event has had a positive impact on the BVIs, increasing tourism, unifying the community and benefiting local charities. In 2016, The Leverick Bay BVI Poker Run had more than 250 participating boats and over 3,000 attendees, making it the premier nautical event in the Caribbean. The success of the Leverick Bay Poker Run has helped to launch two new events: The Stars and Stripes Poker Run in St. Thomas, USVI and The St. Maarten Poker Run. The popularity of these three events and the enthusiastic participation from both local and international visitors has inspired the creation of the biggest nautical event in the region to date: The Caribbean Triple Crown Poker Run series. The Caribbean Triple Crown Poker Run will serve as an umbrella organization supporting all three events, assuring the highest quality and safety standards, increasing the sponsorship value and bringing together fellow boaters from the entire Caribbean, the United States and beyond. The Festival & Cultural Organization of St. John invites you to the Festival Poker Run at the Cruz Bay Beach Front. On St. John contact Guilderoy Sprauve at 340-690-9340 for more information.
