You’ll drive until you swear you’ve missed it and then wonder where the beach is. Well…there’s not much of one, but that’s partly why the snorkeling remains so remarkable.
Named Haulover because of the history of hauling small boats over the narrowest part of St.John instead of sailing around the point. Haulover offers dual bays on either side of the road. The west side of the road offers the easiest access. Look for little pockets of beach to set up camp. You may run into a few beach chickens so keep an eye on your snacks. The opposite side of the road offers a narrow path leading to a very rocky beach but with fantastic snorkeling to the left. Sometimes this side of Haulover is littered with flotsam and jetsam due to the currents and winds. Don’t worry, the water is crystal clear like everywhere else. Do keep an eye out for sea urchins.
