Join us on Friday, May 5, at 6 pm, at Bajo El Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction, for the opening of the exhibition “Different Developments.”
Mongoose Junction’s monthly “First Friday” art & music event will be occurring the same evening from 6 pm to 9 pm. Bajo El Sol is located upstairs above Hot Look Sunglasses and Sun Dog Café.
“Different Developments” will feature works that utilize the medium of photography in innovative ways, either through inventive techniques or printing processes.
Renowned St. John photographer Steve Simonsen will be exhibiting a curated selection of his work printed on acrylic, the largest pieces he has shown at Bajo El Sol.
Kim Nogueira will be exhibiting new jewelry works with image transfers of her photography in enamel, as well as jewelry featuring antique tintype photography.
Marine biologist Caroline Rogers will exhibit her latest photos of St. John marine life printed on metal.
Jessica Rosenberg will exhibit ceramic pieces in which manipulated photos are burned onto silk screens and printed onto clay or glass using glaze or enamel. Rosenberg is working with the theme “shadows.”
David Knight Jr. will be exhibiting a narrative series of iphone photographs on metal titled “Voyages in the Dark.” The series seeks to tell a story about journeying, belonging, and memory.
The show will run until June 1.
